Surfing
Central Park touches both the west and the east coasts of New Zealand’s North Island so no matter which direction the weather pattern you can be guaranteed a great ride.
If the swell is coming in from the east head to Mt Maunganui or Maketu in the Bay of Plenty or to the beaches in the Hawke’s Bay. There is a strong surf culture on the east coast so you are assureed of like minded souls but with such a large coast line you are rarely competing for a wave.
In contrast to the white sands of the East coast the West coast beaches are much more rugged and sport black sand. Great surfing can be had at Manu Bay near Raglan just west of Waitomo.
Central Park – ride on!
