Tongariro alpine crossing | Tongariro National Park

Declared one of the top ten day walks in the world by the Lonely Planet! This walk should be on the list of every keen tramper. Its dramatic scenery and unique land forms combine to earn its place in the top 10 day treks in the world (Lonely planet) the 18.5 kilometre journey is steep in places and the weather can be unpredictable. You will need to go guided or arrange transport to the beginning of track and a pick up at the end of the day. 8 hrs Well made path and steeps some scree. Very exposed to weather be prepared!

Tarawera falls | Rotorua/Kawerau

The Tarawera falls burst from a lava chamber half way down a 65 metre high sheer cliff before tumbling down bush-lined rapid. And this is just the start of the walk! Continue up the crystal clear river to discover the twisting turning cascades as it finds its chaotic way down the ancient lava flow that poured from Mt. Tarawera about 11,000 years ago. perfect swimming holes and bush clad picnic spots make a great day out 2-4 hrs return well made path

Mount Manganui | Tauranga/Bay of Plenty

The focal point of a city this little walk is a great way to fill a morning isolated beach and farm land complement the busy cafe strip. Walk around the” base track” and discover beautiful beaches and quiet farmland an easy 40 min well formed flat walk. Take a towel! Or to really earn your morning coffee and take the “summit track” a 90 min walk allowing commanding views down sweeping beaches of the Bay of plenty coast and back over the seaside city.

Lake Waikaremoana | Te Brewer National Park

One of New Zealand’s 9 classic “Great walks” a four day walk through a rainforest wilderness. Make your way round the many arms and inlets of lake Waikaremoana ancient rainforest stand in silent vigil over the rainforest take a recommended 4 days generally good track but does include some “genuine kiwi” mud and tree roots
4 days or enjoy many walks less than an hour from the main road

Whirinaki loop walk | Te Urewera National Park

A great way to sample in one day what wilderness of Te Urewera has to offer Perhaps New Zealand’s most beautiful example of rainforest the timeless presence of this majestic forest will leave you speechless. Of the many excelent walks on offer we recommend the 4 hr Loop. A well formed track rises gently following a river to the bridge above the canyon water fall. Keep an eye for the rear blue duck!

The pinnacles | Coromandel

Following the old packhorse track that took supplies up to the kauri loggers working and living in the hills. The whole area is steeped in history of pioneering legend but the highlight is the last section of the track which is a steep climb leading to the jagged summit of the Pinnacles. Magnificent panoramic views of the Coromandel region. 8hrs round trip. This walk can be done in one day however it can also be done as an overnight staying at the Pinnacles Hut.

Huka falls | Taupo

From Taupo Near the start of the walkway, a bridge crosses a natural hot stream. The well-defined track winds along the riverbank and offers lovely views on the way. The walk finishes at the spectacular Huka Falls, where the Waikato River is confined to a deep rock channel. The river emerges with a rush at the northern end to form the falls.
A pleasant walk for the whole family. Return via the same track or arrange transport from Huka Falls car park (across the bridge). This walk can be linked with the Aratiatia Rapids Walk. 2-8 hrs

Starting from Whakatane climb past old pa sites (fortified villages) to the sea cliffs overlooking the town and river mouth. Continue through stunning coastal forest over rocky reef to one of NZ most celebrated beaches” Ohope” refresh yourself with a swim or a treat from local cafes before returning via the forested bird walk 5hrs return well make track and steps take care around high tide whilst navigating the rock pools

Ruapehu Crater lake | Tongariro national park

Climb to the top of the north islands highest mountain lies one of the most accessible active volcanic crater lakes in the world. Standing on this snow caped active volcano is something you will never forget. Over the summer months a chair lift from the base of Whakapapa ski field the route traverses over unmarked broken terrain A professional guide is highly recommended. 6hrs return.
