You can’t beat local knowledge! Whether you are in the planning stages of a Central Park holiday or actually ‘on the ground’ exploring this fantastic adventure playground, start by visiting the nearest i-SITE Visitor Information Centre either in person or online. Knowledgeable staff can assist you in finding all the best spots to ensure you gain maximum satisfaction from any Central Park experience you’re treating yourself to; whether surfing at an isolated beach, tackling some of NZ’s best MTB trails, hunting a trophy trout, snow skiing, sampling stunning NZ wine or benefiting from geothermal spa therapies.
There are 32 accredited i-SITE offices across Central Park providing a comprehensive information and reservation service. The majority offer a seven day a week service providing free, impartial information covering local attractions, accommodation and sightseeing options. To make life easy for visitors without their own transport, visitor centres often act as a depot for local and national shuttle, bus and coach services.
i-SITE Visitor information Network centres are identified by the green i-SITE logo but not all information centres are affiliated to the i-SITE network. The Department of Conservation operates Visitor Centres while there are also a number of independently operators however they often operate restricted hours.

Two hours drive from Rotorua and 40 minutes from Taupo, is Turangi.
Located at the southern end of the lake, on the banks of the wonderful Tongariro River, Turangi and its surrounding countryside offers challenging hunting, hiking or leisurely bush walks, sight seeing and much more.
Turangi was once a little boom town in the 60’s, increasing dramatically in population as a result of hydro electricity work, with the Tongariro Power Development. Today it is a busy centre on the banks of the river and a tourist gateway to the Tongariro World Heritage Park, Kaimanawa Forest Park, Pureroa Forest Park, and the Mt Ruapehu ski fields of Turoa and Whakapapa.
